Udhampur, Jan 29: A three-day training program on “Gender Sensitization for Police Personnel,” sponsored by the National Commission for Women (NCW), New Delhi, has officially commenced at the S.K. Police Academy Udhampur.
The initiative aims to strengthen the capabilities of Jammu and Kashmir’s police force in addressing gender-related issues with empathy, professionalism, and effective use of forensic tools.
The program, which sees active participation from 22 police officers and officials from the region, was inaugurated by Rakesh Sambyal, Chief Prosecuting Officer, on the directions of the Director of the Academy. In his address, Sambyal highlighted the course’s focus on tackling gender inequality and enhancing the understanding of women’s safety concerns. The training is designed to equip law enforcement personnel with essential knowledge to handle gender-sensitive cases, ensuring justice and fostering public trust. Chander Mohan, Inspector, is leading the coordination of the course with the assistance of HC Ram Paul. The initiative underscores a firm commitment to promoting gender sensitivity and advancing women’s security in Jammu and Kashmir.
