Four drug peddlers arrested in Kashmir: Police

Continuing its efforts against the menace of drug trafficking, Police have arrested 4 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Awantipora, a Police team of Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Kadlabal Pampore, intercepted a vehicle (Swift) bearing registration number JK01AU-2964 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Wani son of Gh Mohd Wani resident of Sumurbugh New Colony, Mukhtar Ahmad Mir son of Gh Hassan Mir resident of Dooru Mirmaidan Anantnag and Javid Ahmad Kawa son of Wali Ahmad Kawa resident of Sumurbugh New Colony. During search, officers were able to recover 290 grams of Charas like substance and cash ₹97,500 (proceeds of narcotic crime) from their possession. They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Accordingly, a case vide FIR Number 29/ 2025 under relevant sections of NDPS stands registered at Police Station Pampore.

In Kupwara, a police party of Police Station Kralpora during routine naka checking at Khazan Mati, Kralpora, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Muneer Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Sultan Lone, resident of Kralpora. During his personal search, a cannabis-like substance (apparently charas) was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 11/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and investigation has been initiated.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
