Srinagar, Aug 27: Rehana, the former District President of the Mahila Indian National Congress Bandipora, on Tuesday joined Janata Dal United (JD-U) at the party’s Rajbagh office here.
The joining ceremony took place in the presence of the party president G M Shaheen, who warmly welcomed her into the party fold, the JD(U) said in a statement issued here.
Expressing his delight, Shaheen stated, “Ms Rehana’s joining will significantly strengthen our Mahila wing in Bandipora district.” He said this move will have a positive impact on the party’s organisational strength in the area.
Rehana, expressed her gratitude towards the party president for the “warm welcome”. “I’m very happy to join Janata Dal United today. Previously, I was associated with the Congress as the Mahila District President of Bandipora for the past four years. Now, I have joined JD-U along with all my supporters,” she said.
Rehana hinted at more significant developments in the coming days, indicating that more members from Bandipora district might follow her lead and join JD-U.
