Anantnag, Jan 19: The Forest Department seized three horses along with 27 cubic feet (cft) of Kail timber from miscreants during an operation in the Kuthar Range of the Anantnag Forest Division on Sunday. One employee reportedly sustained injuries during the operation.
Mudasir Mehmood, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Anantnag, said that during an overnight operation, a checkpoint was set up by Forest Department officials in the Kuthar Range. At around 2:30 a.m., three horses carrying 27 cft of Kail timber were seized.
He added that the timber smugglers fled the scene. During the operation, a forest employee, Fayaz Ahmad, sustained injuries.
“Investigations are underway to apprehend the culprits. The Forest Department is committed to protecting forests with utmost dedication,” DFO Anantnag said.
The injured forest employee was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. He is out of danger and is currently recovering.
