Jammu, Dec 14: Five-day training programme on ‘Women Safety’ for police Investigators, sponsored by the Bureau of Police Research and Development New Delhi, Saturday at the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA).
A statement issued here said that the programme, which commenced on December 10, was attended by 24 police officers, ranging in rank from ASI to Inspector, including one female officer.
“The course aimed to enhance investigative skills and update participants on the latest legal provisions, including those under the IT Act. Renowned guest speakers shared their expertise during the training, covering various relevant topics,” the statement said.
The speakers included: Dr. Kavita Suri, Professor, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, Dr. Aehtesham Hussain, Scientific Officer, DNA Division, FSL Srinagar, Amit Prakash Sehgal, Senior Prosecuting Officer, SKPA Riaz Ahmed, Senior Prosecuting Officer SKPA Meena Kumari, Central Administrator, One Stop Centre, Udhampur Inspector Isha Mahajan, PTS Kathua, Inspector Rakesh Kumar, Cyber Police Station Jammu, Inspectors Sandeep Mahajan, Anil Raina, Mehmood Ahmed and Paramjeet Singh from SKPA, he valedictory function was presided over by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP SKPA, who served as the Chief Guest.”
In his address, Gupta emphasized the importance of being sensitive to women victims and adhering to established guidelines to ensure effective investigations in women-related cases. “He highlighted the primary objective of the training as enhancing the capacity of investigators to address such cases with competence and sensitivity,” the statement said, adding that “the valedictory ceremony was attended by SKPA faculty members.”
