Farmers’ training, exposure visit for Mallah Watershed Project begins at SKUAST-K

Srinagar, June 11: Five days training cum exposure visit of farmers sponsored by Water Development Project under Watershed Development fund scheme of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) started on Tuesday at Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K.
Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension/Education, SKUAST-K was Chief Guest at the inaugural session of the programme. R.S. Khasa, Project Coordinator, Associate Director Watershed Development, Ms. Harpreet Kour, Project Manager, Scientists of Directorate of Extension, non-teaching staff and 25 farmers were also present on the occasion. Dr. Farahnaz Rasool, Deputy Director (Trgs), Prof. Liyaqat and Prof. Purshotam Singh shall be the training organizers.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Extension/Education Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi apprised the participants for need and importance of training and appreciated the interest shown by the participants. He assured that the farmers will be provided with best learning platform through able and experienced scientific staff.
He advised the training organizers to focus on exposure visits regarding best sustainable agricultural practices, vermi-composting, processing, marketing, silage making and new technologies in horticulture.
Rajinder Khasa, appreciated the role of Director Extension, and his team in organizing this training cum exposure visit and presented an overview of the training programme.
Ms. Harpreet Kour, Project Manager in her address briefly discussed about implementing Mallah Watershed Development Project under Watershed Development fund scheme of NABARD.
Prof. Afshan Gul welcomed the guests and prof. Purshottam proposed the vote of thanks.
