Srinagar, Oct 08: Director Health Services Kashmir (DHSK), Dr Jehangir Bakshi along with a divisional team, today conducted an extensive visit to JLNM Hospital Srinagar to assess current status of facilities and address key areas requiring attention.
A spokesman of DHSK said during the tour of the new building, the Director visited the CT Scan section and highlighted the need to expedite the delivery of the MRI machine.
It was informed that the MRI for the apex hospital of the directorate has already been processed through Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd. (JKMSCL).
The Director urged the concerned officers to follow up the procurement process to ensure timely installation and operation.
The director also discussed the completion of the new hospital building stressing to accelerate the remaining construction works to make the entire facility fully operational.
Officials said the director stressed the importance of ensuring that the hospital’s Operation Theatres functions 24×7 for conducting various specialized surgeries.
He directed concerned officers to prioritize the augmentation of both human resources and equipment required to make this possible, thereby enhancing surgical care at the hospital.
The director conducted a detailed review of the work being done in the Surgical and Medical Intensive Care Units (ICUs). He examined the overall functionality of these critical care units and provided guidance to improve patient management and care delivery.
He also reviewed the paediatric section where the director commended efforts of staff in managing patient care, recognizing the quality of services being provided to children.
The Director reviewed the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) Program, which has significantly contributed to the hospital’s patient care services. He acknowledged the positive impact of the DNB program on improving both the training of medical professionals and the delivery of specialized care to patients.
As officials said the director reviewed the progress of various National Health Programs being implemented at JLNM Hospital. He emphasized the need to meet the set targets under these schemes and directed hospital administration to ensure that all efforts are made to achieve them.
The Director stressed the importance of the hospital qualifying for the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification, urging the staff to focus on maintaining high standards of care, infrastructure, and service delivery in line with NQAS guidelines.
The DHSK was accompanied by MS JLNM Hospital and his team who briefed the director about the status of health care services being provided to the patients and issues that need to be addressed. A threadbare meeting was also held in the hospital’s conference hall.
