Srinagar, Aug 27: Er Aijaz Hussain, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and DDC member Srinagar, on Wednesday visited the Padshahibagh, Gandabal area of the Lal Chowk Constituency to take stock of the water level in River Jhelum and its tributaries, amid rising concerns of potential flooding due to continuous rainfall.During the visit, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the local Tehsildar were present. Er Aijaz held an on-ground assessment and interacted with officers from the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, urging them to remain on high alert. He specifically directed the department to deploy sandbags at vulnerable embankment points to prevent any breach or overflow.Addressing residents, Er Aijaz advised community members to stay vigilant and shift elderly persons and patients to safer locations as a precautionary measure. He assured them of the administration’s support and continuous monitoring of the situation.Later in the day, the BJP leader visited Dalgate, where he met with families affected by a recent fire incident. Expressing his solidarity with the victims, he assured them that he would personally take up their case with the district administration and push for immediate relief and rehabilitation measures.
