Pension is the most relevant form of “social security” for employees and their family members in times of need and eventualities. EPFO’s Regional Office in Jammu has initiated the process of settling pension claims from the offices in Jammu and Kashmir itself. In this context, it is pertinent to mention that the monthly pension is available to members if they have ten or more years of service under the Employees’ Pension Scheme of 1995 in one or more establishments. After reaching the age of 58, eligible members may apply for a superannuation pension by logging in to their UAN account and applying online. In the unfortunate event that an EPS member dies while on duty, the family of that member is entitled to a monthly pension. The family member(s) may receive a monthly pension by filing an offline claim with the deceased member’s employer.
