Pension is the most relevant form of “social security” for employees and their family members in times of need and eventualities. EPFO’s Regional Office in Jammu has initiated the process of settling pension claims from the offices in Jammu and Kashmir itself. In some cases, pensions are paid to widows and family members of even such members, to whom the employer has remitted a pension contribution equal to one month’s pension.

According to the statement issued here, “Towards this end, the Office has settled a total of nine pension claims in Jammu with an initial arrear amount of Rs. 6,52,247/- in the month of February 2023.” Pension claims were settled in r/o Late Zahoor Ahmed Sohil for Rubina Begum (widow), Alena Yasmeen (child), and Ziyan Ahmed (child), with the monthly pension amounts being Rs. 2776/-, Rs. 694/-, and Rs. 694/-, respectively. Pension claims were settled in r/o Late Darshan Lal, Chanchla Devi (widow), and Rakesh Kumar (child), with the monthly pension amounts being Rs. 2076 and Rs. 519. Pension claims were settled in the name of Manu Ji Hakoo, with a monthly pension of Rs. 2066/-.The pension claim has also been settled in respect of Vijay Kumar, with the monthly pension amount being Rs. 4122/-, who visited EPFO, Jammu, today to collect the PPO.

EPFO, Jammu also processed retirement pension claims for Yash Paul (monthly pension of Rs. 4311/-), Shri Jagdish Raj (monthly pension of Rs. 4231/-), and others.

Rizwan Uddin, Regional P.F. Commissioner (J&K and Ladakh), Sanjeev Kumar (EO/AO), and Pritpal Singh (Assistant Section Officer) distributed the PPO to the pensioners who visited the Regional Office, Jammu.

In this context, it is pertinent to mention that the monthly pension is available to members if they have ten or more years of service under the Employees’ Pension Scheme of 1995 in one or more establishments. After reaching the age of 58, eligible members may apply for a superannuation pension by logging in to their UAN account and applying online. In the unfortunate event that an EPS member dies while on duty, the family of that member is entitled to a monthly pension. The family member(s) may receive a monthly pension by filing an offline claim with the deceased member’s employer.
