Ganderbal, Jan 13: The Ganderbal administration has called for identifying the households without LPG so that the connections are made available to them as the government of J&K is contemplating declaring the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as “Kerosene Free”.
This means that no PDS kerosene will be allocated by 31 March 2023 owing to optimum penetration of LPG and almost complete electrification of all the villages of J&K, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ganderbal Mehraj-ud-Din Shah said during a meeting held here at Mini-Secretariat to review the stock position of essentials in the district. During the meeting, a threadbare discussion was held on the stock position of essential commodities, LPG connections and kerosene oil requirements.
In this regard, tehsil supply officers of the FCS&CA Department were directed to initiate an appropriate exercise/drive at their respective circle levels in collaboration with revenue authorities and LPG associates.
The ADC directed the Assistant Director FCS&CA to make adequate stocks of all essential commodities available in the district so that routine hassle-free supply to the consumers is ensured. He also passed several instructions to the concerned for ensuring all households have LPG connections and appropriate exercises shall be carried out at the tehsil level to find out the requirements of kerosene oil for illumination and cooking purposes only by the households.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner, Revenue Ganderbal, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kangan, Assistant Director FCS&CA Ganderbal, Tehsil Supply Officers of FCS&CA and representatives of various gas agencies operating in the district.
