Jammu: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit on Saturday said the Election Commission should “go beyond verbal claims” and announce the dates for the assembly elections in J&K.
Addressing media persons at the Jammu State Central Office, state chief Manish Sahni said the results of the Lok Sabha elections have been announced and the Central government is going to be formed on June 09. He appealed for the restoration of the democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Election Commission should go beyond its verbal claims and announce the elections before the deadline issued by the Supreme Court for the dates of the assembly elections,” he said.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said, “In the Lok Sabha elections, the people of Kashmir have completely rejected the BJP and the parties contesting the elections under its patronage.”
Sahni said that as per the instructions of the party’s high command, Shiv Sena (UBT) will field its candidates for the first time in the assembly elections of Jammu and Kashmir with the resolve to fulfill public aspirations and restore the rights of the local people.
On this occasion, the party’s General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, President Kamghar Wing, Raj Singh were also present.
