Srinagar, May 01: The District Youth Services and Sports Officer Anantnag organized Sports events for specially-abled students under the Banner of “Celebration of Sports Week (Para Sports) for Specially Abled Students” on Monday in ZPEO Zone Bijbehara at ZaibaAapa Institute of Inclusive Education Bijbehara.
On the occasion events of Carrom, Chess, Tag of War, Badminton, Rope Skipping & some minor recrational games were conducted for both boys and girls. In the events near about 90 students participated with zeal and zest. The purpose of the programme was to encourage the Para Sports and participation of specially-abled students.
The DYSSO Anantnag Gh. Hassan Lone was the chief guest in the event along with ZPEO Srigufwara Mohd Maqbool Thockroo, Mohammad Abbass Dar (Activity Incharge DYSSO Anantnag), Bilal Ahmad Dar (PEM DYSSO Anantnag) Meema Rashid Principal ZaibaAapa Institute of Inclusive Education Bijbehara, Khurshid Ahmad War (Sports Week Incharge) Shabir Ahmad (Junior Assistant ZPEO Bijbehara) and field officials of ZPEO Zone Bijbehara. While speaking on the occasion, DYSSO Anantnag Gh. Hassan Lone said that this week is meant for the specially abled students to encourage them and to provide them the platform for the participation in games and sports, so that they can show case their hidden talent.
This week also promotes inclusivity and highlights the importance of equal opportunities for everyone in the field of sports. Further, he lauded the students, Authorities of Zaiba Appa Institute of Inclusive Education Bijbehara and field officials of ZPEO Zone Bijbehara for the participation and successful conduct of the programme.
On the conclusion of the programme, the Winners and Runner up students in both boys and girls categories were awarded with medals along with all participants.
