Srinagar, Jul 30: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday called upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir to rise above regional, religious, and linguistic differences to build a more inclusive and prosperous society.
“Unity and collective resolve are essential to safeguard the interests of the region and defeat the forces aiming to divide its people,” Dr Abdullah said while speaking at a public gathering here.
He said, “We must remember that our strength lies in our diversity. The time has come for all communities, regardless of region, religion, or language, to stand together in the larger interest of peace, development, and dignity for all.”
The NC chief lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for “successfully” working to restore confidence among tourists and reviving the tourism sector following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack. He acknowledged the swift and sensitive response of the government in handling the aftermath and ensuring safety and stability in key tourism areas.
“Despite the shock and sorrow caused by the Pahalgam incident, the government did not allow fear to dictate the future of our tourism economy. Under Omar’s leadership, effective steps were taken to reassure visitors and rebuild trust, a move that has already begun yielding positive results,” Dr Farooq said.
Interacting with people and party functionaries at various places, Dr Abdullah reiterated the National Conference’s commitment to upholding the values of secularism, social justice, and unity. He urged the youth to become ambassadors of peace and progress.
