Srinagar, Jan 06: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah on Monday extended warm greetings to people on the annual Urs observance of Hazrat Khawaja Moin Ud Din Chisti Ajmeri (RA).
While greeting the people, Dr Farooq said, “Hazrat Khawaja Moin Ud Din Chisti was a great Sufi saint of Indian subcontinent. By leading a very simple and ascetic way of life Sufis like Khawaja Moin Ud Din (RA) spread the message of love and equality.”
Omar Abdullah in his greetings said, “Sufism is a divine way of seeking communication with Allah. It is a method of achieving personal liaison with the divine. Sufis represented the inner side of the Islamic creed, which stresses self-realisation and beautification of the soul through piety, righteousness and universal love for all. Khawaja sahib was an embodiment of all these virtues. He is the prominent name among the Sufis of India who not only watered the ideals of brotherhood but also advocated religious tolerance and social cohesiveness.”
Meanwhile, a delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, on the directions of the JKNC president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, led by provincial president Kashmir Showkat Mir offered a ceremonial Chadder at the Dargah Sharif in Ajmer. Mir was accompanied by Imam and Khateeb of Dargah Hazratbal Dr Kamal-u-Din Farooqi and Sajjad Nasheen Ajmeri Syed Fakhru Moheen, the party said in a statement issued here.
The delegation presented a ceremonial chadar at the revered shrine of Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti, seeking blessings for peace, prosperity, and unity within the Muslim Ummah and the nation at large. They offered prayers for enduring peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the importance of brotherhood and communal harmony.
