Srinagar, Oct 09: Students from Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar showcased exceptional talent and determination at the Union Territory Level Pencak Silat Championship 2024, held from September 21 to 23 at the Indoor Hall Polo Ground, Srinagar.
The competition, which saw over 1,000 participants from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, concluded with DPS Srinagar students playing a key role in securing the top rank for the J&K team. Among the standout performers were Allishba Jeelani, who clinched a Gold medal, Mehreen Aashiq, who earned a Silver, and Nehal Zubair and Aisha Yatoo, who both secured Bronze medals.
The three-day event, organized by the Pencak Silat Association of J&K in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, featured intense competition across multiple age groups. The top performers from the championship will now have the opportunity to represent Jammu and Kashmir at the national level later this year.
Principal of DPS Srinagar, Ms. Shafaq Afshan, praised the students for their hard work and dedication, expressing pride in their accomplishments. “Their achievements are a testament to their perseverance, and we wish them continued success in future competitions,” she said.
The championship served as an important platform for athletes from across the region, and DPS Srinagar’s outstanding performance has further elevated the school’s reputation in the sporting arena.
