In order to review the measures taken by the enforcement agencies to curb the drug abuse and narcotic trafficking in the district, 18th District-level NARCO Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting was held at the mini-secretariat, Ganderbal.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir.
During the meeting, detailed discussion was held on the directions issued in previous NCORD meeting to curb the drug menace in the district.
The meeting also discussed the steps taken by concerned departments and agencies for making district Ganderbal drug free. Various issues pertaining to incidence of drug addiction, areas of concern and hotspots of drug use were discussed threadbare.
The DC sought details about erecting banners/ flex sign boards on the Panchayat Ghars/patwar khanas which have been declared as Nasha Mukt Panchayats. District Social Welfare Officer and Excise Inspector were directed to ensure that the banners are erected on identified locations and keep a close liaison with the Panchayat members so that the said Panchayats remain Nasha Mukt.
