District Level Inter-Zonal U-14 Boys Cricket: Jammu, Gandhi Nagar zones script convincing victories

Jammu, Aug 2: Jammu Zone and Gandhi Nagar Zone registered resounding victories over their rivals on day-3 of the ongoing District Level Inter-Zonal U-14 Boys Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu at Khel Gaon, Nagrota, near here.
The tournament is being held under the patronage of Subash Chander Chibber, Director Youth Services and Sports J&K, under the guidance of Sh Suram Chand Sharma, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu and under the overall supervision of Sh Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu.
The teams from all 14 Zones of District Jammu are taking part in the tournament, aimed at selecting the best team for the next level of competition.
Earlier, in the first match, Jammu Zone defeated Akhnoor Zone in an easy contest by 35 runs.
Batting first, Jammu Zone scored 110 runs in the allotted overs, losing 5 wickets in the process.
In reply, Akhnoor Zone bundled out for 75 runs to lose the match by 35 runs.
In another match, Gandhi Nagar Zone thrashed Satwari Zone by 9 wickets.
Satwari Zone scored 59 runs, while Gandhi Nagar Zone chased the target easily by losing 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets.
In yet another match, Jammu Zone got the better of Bhalwal Zone by 6 wickets. 
Batting first, Bhalwal Zone scored 59 runs in the allotted overs, which, in reply Jammu Zone chased by losing 4 wickets.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts drawn from the Department.
