Srinagar, Aug 2: In a bid to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among its ranks, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has launched the Inter Battalion Hockey Tournament in Srinagar. The tournament was inaugurated on Wednesday at the Hockey Ground of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, marking the beginning of an exciting sporting spectacle.
The event, organized by the 132 Battalion CRPF of Srinagar Sector, has attracted participation from a total of 22 teams hailing from different Battalions within the Srinagar Sector.
The tournament, scheduled to run until August 4, promises thrilling matches and fierce competition among the teams. The matches will not only showcase the skill and talent of the participating CRPF personnel but will also foster a sense of unity and teamwork.
One of the primary objectives of this tournament is to identify a pool of talented players who will later represent the CRPF in sector-level matches. This platform not only provides an opportunity for players to demonstrate their proficiency in the game but also serves as a testament to the commitment of the CRPF to encourage physical fitness and healthy competition among its members.
The official inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of R K Baruah, Commandant of the 132 Battalion CRPF, who kicked off the tournament with enthusiasm and encouraged the players to exhibit their best on the field.
