Kulgam, Jan 1: District Kulgam Chess Championship 2022, which witnessed the participation of 50 players, concluded here on Sunday at New ERA Day Boarding School Korel. The championship for Senior, Junior, and Sub-Junior for boys and girls was organized by the District Kulgam Chess Association in collaboration with All J&K Chess Association under the aegis of J&K Sports Council.
District Sports Officer Kulgam Youth Service & Sports Department Mr. Ghulam Hassan was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, while the guests of honor, Mr. Munawar Ahmad Malik, Chairman New ERA Day Boarding School Korel Kulgam and Mr. Mohammad Amin Malik, Principal New ERA Day Boarding School Korel Kulgam distributed prizes among the winners.
Results
In Senior (boys category), Sahil Rashid, a renowned Chess player of J&K secured 1st position while Shahid Yaseen bagged 2nd position. In the Sub-Junior category, Arif Manzoor secured 1st position while Suhaib Ahmad bagged 2nd position. In the Under-13 category, Asmar Naik got 1st position while Manzoor Ahmad was 2nd. In the Under-11 category, Suraid Mehraj secured 1st position while Yasir Amin got 2nd position. In the girls’ category, Zaira Riyaz scored 1st position while Aleena Riyaz got 2nd position.
