Gulmarg, Jan 30: Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering (IISM) completed its 3rd ski course at Gulmarg on Monday in which more than 70 students from different parts of the country participated.
A graduation ceremony was held in which Shri FazlulHaseeb,IAS, Director Tourism Kashmir was the chief guest who facilitated the winners of different skiing events. Javaid ul Rehman Asstt. Director Tourism Gulmarg was also present during the function.  Students  had come from different parts of the country including Delhi, Bengal, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh and various other cities alongwith many students from Kashmir.
Col JS Dhillon of IISM welcomed Mr. Fazlul Haseeb and other dignitaries and briefed them about the challenges faced by him to revive this defunct Institute of the Nation. IISM has now become a world class institute where all facilities are provided to impart high standards of training. He said that due to our excellent standards our all courses get subscribed within minutes of opening its booking. Every year many students are unable to join the courses due to the limitations of institute capacity. He told that all students who complete our courses become ambassadors of Kashmir and spread the message of good will and harmony. He said ski courses not only teach the skill of skiing but also develop overall personality of the trainees. Such courses also help in generating employment opportunities to students who become guides, instructors and entrepreneurs.
Fazlul Haseeb appreciated the huge efforts put in by Col Dhillon and his team to revive this Institute and complemented them for providing world class training to students. He said such training are the need of the hour and it develops strong bonding amongst students of different regions irrespective of their caste, creed or religion. He assured all help to the Institute from State Govt. He also advocated conducting more such courses in winter as well as summer to ensure cultural exchange amongst citizens of different regions of our country.
Students were very happy to complete their training and appreciated the efforts of Instructors and staff to impart world class training to them. All of them wanted to come again as they feel this type of training not only teaches them the skill of skiing but also help them to transform their lives and enable them to get rid of many social evils.
Javaid Ul Rehman Asstt. Director Tourism Gulmarg also appreciated the efforts of IISM for conducting such courses in Gulmarg. He asked to students to become good ambassadors of Kashmir and ask friends and relatives to visit Kashmir to enjoy the natural beauty.
