Srinagar, Sept 11: Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Nalin Prabhat (IPS), on Thursday chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Conference Hall of Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess the prevailing security situation across the Union Territory and discuss measures to further strengthen the existing security framework.
The meeting was attended by Spl. DG Coordination J&K S.J.M. Gillani, ADGP Headquarters PHQ J&K M.K. Sinha, ADGP Armed J&K Anand Jain, ADGP CID J&K Shri Nitish Kumar, along with IGsP of Kashmir Zone, Jammu Zone, Crime J&K, Traffic J&K, and Railways J&K. All Range DIGs, DIG Personnel PHQ, DPT J&K, District SSPs, SSP PCR Kashmir, SOs to IGP Kashmir and DGP J&K, AIG (CT & Intelligence) PHQ, and other senior officers were also present.
The Zonal IGPs and heads of various police wings briefed the DGP on the current security landscape in the UT, including recent developments in anti-terror operations and the actions initiated in response. The deliberations focused on existing security concerns, operational challenges, and strategies to enhance overall preparedness.
The DGP stressed the importance of revisiting and reinforcing security plans, with particular emphasis on effective counter-insurgency strategies to ensure the peaceful conduct of forthcoming events.
DGP Prabhat directed field officers to intensify surveillance on anti-national elements and strengthen area domination in their jurisdictions. He emphasised the need to secure vulnerable points and implement comprehensive security protocols. The DGP also advised district police heads to monitor social media platforms closely to curb the spread of misinformation that could disrupt public order.
Addressing the issue of rising general crime in certain regions, the DGP directed district heads to bolster community policing and public outreach initiatives. He called for targeted actions to dismantle criminal networks and restore public confidence.
Highlighting the growing threat posed by narcotics, the DGP urged officers to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and take decisive action against those involved in the trade.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to enhance vigilance, foster inter-agency coordination, and ensure the seamless implementation of security measures aimed at safeguarding peace and stability across the Valley.
