Bandipora, Apr 03: District Election Officer Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Monday inaugurated a cricket  tournament and Tug of War competition at SK Stadium Bandipora in an attempt to boost voters’ awareness under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign.

On the occasion Dr Owais said the tournament is being organised to raise awareness among prospective voters and eligible voters about the importance of casting votes and urge them to get enrolled in the upcoming special summary revision of Electoral Rolls.

He said the none of the eligible voters should be left behind and hence we are working on this SVEEP scheme so that we reach the hearts and minds of new voters.

DEO said SVEEP is a flagship programme of ECI for voter’s education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India.

On the occasion Dr Owais interacted with the young players including young first time voters. He urged them to get enrolled at earliest and participate in the decision-making process by casting their votes in upcoming elections.

He distributed pamphlets and caps with SVEEP slogans about importance of votes inscribed on it. Later, a tug of war was also organised on the occasion.

Nodal Officer Coordination MY Hakaak, General Manager District Industries Centre Bandipora Mehraj Wani,  padmashree awardee Faisal Ali Dar and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
