Jammu, Nov 18: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president, Tariq Hameed Karra on Monday directed the party’s block presidents to “defend the idea of India, which is under threat from the BJP-RSS”.
Karra held a day-long interaction with block presidents from various districts of the Jammu region. The meeting focused on strengthening the party at the grassroots level and discussing organizational matters.
During the interaction, Karra said the Congress believes in the philosophy of unity in diversity, as envisioned by leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad and Dr B.R. Ambedkar. He described the block presidents as the backbone of the party, playing a crucial role in promoting its ideology and expanding its presence at the grassroots.
The meeting included discussions on booth-level committees and the “Haqla Panchayat” initiative, with Karra urging the block leaders to focus on countering what he referred to as “false propaganda” by the BJP-RSS. He also assured attendees of steps to address organisational challenges and enhance the party structure.
Block presidents from Jammu Urban, Jammu Rural, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, and Sunderbani in Rajouri participated in the interaction. The session lasted over five hours, during which feedback was taken from each participant.
Several leaders attended the meeting, including Nain Chand Sharma, Sardar Ajit Singh, Tirath Ram Sharma, Chander Shekhar, Raj Kumar, Darshan Lal Verma, Manjit Singh Bedi, Nageshwar Narayan, Latish Sharma, Parveen Bhalla, S.S. Dutta, Bhushan Kumar, Sanjeev Kaithal, Rakesh Sharma, Balkar Singh, Captain Kali Dass, Daljeet Singh and others. (KNS)
