DC Srinagar releases District Statistical Handbook

Srinagar, July 11: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Tuesday released Annual publication “District Statistical Handbook of the District Srinagar compiled by District Statistics and Evaluation Office (DSEO) Srinagar here at a simple Book release function held in the Office Chamber of the DC Srinagar.
The Deputy Commissioner also released Constituency Wise Village Amenity Directory, Evaluation Report on Beti Bachao Beti Padao(BBBP) scheme, Evaluation Report on Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme(RNTCP) and District Srinagar at a Glance.
The Annual publication “Statistical Handbook (2021-22)” has captured the development scenario of Srinagar District in all sectors. The Book also provides the comprehensive data on social-economic indicators of development of the District. The Data for said publication has been collected from various District and Sectoral Offices of the District and after scrutinization and compilation by DSEO is being published annually in the form of flagship publication “District Statistical Handbook”.
Similarly, the Constituency Wise Village Amenity Directory, contains the Statistical Profile of the amenities available to the people within the boundaries of each constituency of the District Srinagar and thus plays a vital Statistical tool used for grass root level planning of the District.
Likewise, the publication titled “District Srinagar at a Glance” presents data of District Statistical Handbook in condensed form.
During the function, the Deputy Commissioner also released publications related to Evaluation Studies/ Report on Beti Bachao Beti Padao(BBBP) scheme, Evaluation Report on Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme(RNTCP)conducted by District Statistics & Evaluation Office, Srinagar during 2022-23.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC praised the efforts of DSEO staff headed by District Statistics and Evaluation Officer (DSEO) Srinagar, Anika Mushtaq and her staff for bringing out such useful publications.
The DC hoped that the book will prove useful to present a real picture of Srinagar District on a developmental map and will also guide the Administration for next coming years to further improve on the developmental front.
The DC also hailed the efforts of DSEO and its field functionaries in the collection of data and stressed the improvement of these publications in the future with regular updates in policy-making coverage. He said this handbook will help in providing updated data to concerned Departments which would assist in policy-making, planning, research and also the Government to focus on chalking out priority sectors. He appreciated the line departments for providing requisite data on different indicators
 The book has captured the data regarding Public Infrastructure and Utilities, Education, Health, Finance, Tourism, Climate, Social Welfare, Employment, Industries Agriculture, Horticulture and allied sectors besides other general information. The additional information captured this year included performance in Banking services, Judiciary, Fisheries, Food Civil Supplies, Irrigation, Employment, Annual Rainfall, Post and Telecom sectors.
Pertinent to mention that, the District Statistics and Evaluation Office(DSEO) is the Nodal Agency for the collection, compilation, and dissemination of important statistical data of the District.
