Poonch, Sept 10: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the progress of land acquisition for key developmental projects, including National Highway NH-144A and the Rajouri–Thanamandi–Surankote (RTS) road.
According to a statement issued here, the meeting focused on assessing the status of land acquisition, disbursement of compensation to landowners, pending cases and departmental liabilities. Officers from concerned departments briefed the DC on current status and the challenges faced in the implementation process.
The DC emphasised expediting the acquisition process and called for strict adherence to project timelines. He directed all departments involved to ensure timely disbursement of compensation and resolve pending issues to avoid any delay in the execution of these vital infrastructure projects. He stressed on close inter-departmental collaboration to ensure smooth progress.
He issued specific directions to SDM Mendhar and SDM Surankote to verify the village-wise status of structures falling under the Right of Way (ROW), for which payments have been made but demolitions are still pending.
The meeting was attended by ADC Tahir Mustafa Malik, SDMs of Mendhar and Surankote, Collector Land Acquisition (Defence), SE PWD and Hydraulic, DYSP DAR, Xen PWD (R&B), Xen JPDCL and Transmission, Officer Commanding 79 RCC and 58 RCC, project managers from private construction companies and other concerned officers.
