Doda, July 29: In a significant step towards improving regional connectivity and promoting tourism, Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh Tuesday flagged off the much-awaited JKRTC bus service from Doda to Chamba (Himachal Pradesh) via Bhaderwah. A statement issued here said that the flag-off ceremony took place here at the DC Office Complex in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Anil Kumar Thakur, Chief Planning Officer Manesh Kumar Manhas and DySP Traffic Sarabjeet Singh. The service is expected to benefit commuters, tourists, students, pilgrims, and traders by providing safe, reliable, and affordable public transport between Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that the launch of this inter-state bus service fulfils a long-standing demand of the public and will significantly ease travel between Doda and Chamba. He said the initiative would especially benefit devotees traveling to the holy shrine of Mindhal Chandi Mata in Himachal Pradesh by providing them a safe, reliable, and affordable mode of transport. The DC further announced that a return bus service from Chamba to Doda will also be started soon to ensure smooth two-way connectivity. He emphasized that such transport initiatives not only improve public convenience but also contribute to economic growth by boosting religious tourism, trade, and people-to-people connections between the two states. The launch of this JKRTC bus service is part of the district administration’s broader efforts to improve transport infrastructure and provide better facilities to the residents of remote areas. The initiative reflects the commitment of the administration towards responsive governance and regional development.
