Jammu, Feb 15: The two-day Cultural Festival ‘New J&K-New Hope’ commenced today at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurating the event.
The Lt Governor commended the collaborative efforts of the All J&K Folk Artists’ Association, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, and North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, in presenting the rich musical and folk art heritage of the Jammu Kashmir Union Territory.
Highlighting Jammu Kashmir as a nexus of art, literature, wisdom, and culture, the Lt Governor lauded the exceptional talents of its people who have played a pivotal role in fostering societal unity and contributing significantly to national integration through their art forms.
“We take pride in our artists such as Padam Shri recipient folk artist Romalo Ram, who are dedicatedly promoting the folk art and cultural legacy of Jammu Kashmir,” remarked the Lt Governor.
Reaffirming the UT Administration’s commitment to nurturing young and aspiring artists, the Lt Governor assured continued support and a conducive platform for their growth and development.
The Lt Governor extended his congratulations to the artists for their captivating performances during the festival.
A total of 450 artists representing various regions of Jammu Kashmir are participating in the Cultural Festival, showcasing the diverse cultural tapestry of the Union Territory.
Present at the inauguration included Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary, Culture Department; Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary JKAACL; Gulzar Bhat, Chairman All J&K Folk Artists’ Association, along with senior officials, renowned artists, and a large gathering of enthusiastic youth.
