Ganderbal, Apr 25: Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), kick-started two-week “Capacity Building Programme” for faculty members in social sciences, which was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath here.
The event aims to build up the capacities and capabilities of the University and College teachers in the light of emerging trends in education. The programme has attracted participation from Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram, and Telangana and prominent resource persons will interact with the participants on diverse issues of academic importance.
Addressing the participants, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, emphasized the need for organising such programmes as teachers have a role in redesigning the higher education ecosystem as envisaged by National Education Policy (NEP 2020). He said the NEP 2020, which is a comprehensive framework, seeks to transform India’s education system to meet the demands of the 21st century and foster critical thinking, creativity, and innovation among students. He impressed upon the participants to address the needs of the students in the areas of knowledge, skills, competencies, values and attitudes. Prof. A Ravinder Nath congratulated the Course Director and Course Co-Director for organising the academic discourse.
Keynote speaker, Pro Vice-Chancellor (former) Dr. Babasahib Ambedkar University, Prof. Ashok Tejankar, emphasised on the role of teachers in NEP-2020 and connecting the Indian knowledge system at global level. He emphasized that the research should focus on solving societal problems rather than just for improving citation score.
Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, said in contemporary times we are being encountered by new buzz terms like digital natives, digital migrants and cybergogy etc. He said that there is a need to have a sound curriculum framework in our educational setup where digital technology helps in dissemination of education.
Dean, School of Business Studies/Course Director Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nika, said the programme is an opportunity for the participants to engage in a meaningful discourse and deliberate on the issues confronting the field of education. He underscored the need for carrying out objective research for upward movement of the intellectual property graph helping in transforming the lives of the people. He suggested that a relook into the past shall encourage us to integrate our cultural ethos and the Indian knowledge system with the existing framework of education so as to act local while thinking global.
