CSE emerges overall champion in MIET Jammu Sports Meet

Jammu, Mar 04: Computer Science Engineering (CSE) Department emerged overall champion, while Civil Warriors lifted cricket trophy and Puniya of BBA bagged sprint gold in boys section and Saranshavi of B. Com clinched sprint gold in girls section in the Annual Sports Meet of Model Institute of Science and Technology (MIET) Jammu at MA Stadium, here on Saturday.
Ankur Gupta, Director MIET Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who alongwith Sahil Sahwney, General Manager Stragetic Initiative distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams/players on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Director MIET said that apart from providing quality technical/professional education to the students, MIET is committed to provide ample opportunity to its students to showcase and hone their sporting skill.
Earlier, in Cricket summit clash, Civil Warriors scripted a thrilling 2-run victory over CSE to lift the title.
Batting first, Civil Warriors scored 80 runs in the stipulated 10 overs, while CSE Super Kings scored 80 runs, thus lost the match by 2 runs.
In the first semifinal, Civil Warriors dubbed Rest of MIET Tigers in an exciting contest, while in another semifinal, CSE Super Kings got the better of BBA Department in an easy contest.
Meanwhile, in Basketball boys, CSE outplayed Rest of MIET in the finals to win the title, while in Basketball girls, CSE emerged winner, while BBA LLB remained runners-up.
In Badminton boys, Aryan of ECE lifted the title, while Suhail of BBA and Vaibhav of ECE remained first and second runners-up respectively.
In Badminton girls, Simran of MCA won the title, while Akshita Rajput of BBA and Poorvi Gupta of CSE remained first and second runners-up respectively.
In Table Tennis boys, Keshav of ECE won the title, while Riteshwar of B.Com remained first runners-up and Dhruv of Civil emerged second runners-up.
In Tennis boys, Shivansh of CSE won the title, while Naman of BBA Hons and Altumish of CSE remained first and second runners-up respectively.
In Volleyball, Rest of MIET emerged winner, while BBA LLB remained runners-up.
In 100 meters boys sprint, Puniya of BBA won gold, Rishi of CSE bagged silver and Sameer of BBA claimed bronze, while in 100 meters sprint girls, Saranshavi of B.Com, Divya of B.Com and Sushaivi of CSE claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In 400 meters boys, Narotam of BBA, Ansh of CSE and Kunal of MBA won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in 1500 meters boys, Narotam of BBA bagged gold and Kunal of MBA claimed silver medal.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by the students–Baseer Fatima and Poorvi Gupta, while the vote of thanks was presented by the student–Harshita Khajuria.
The event was held under the overall supervision of Sports Director of MIET SukomalGanguly.
