Cricket match for visually impaired sports persons organized in Anantnag

Anantnag, Sep 22: Cricket Match for Visually Impaired Sports Persons under the Banner, “Nasha Mukht Abiyaan” was organized jointly by District Youth Services and Sports Anantnag, District Social Welfare Office Anantnag and South Kashmir Handicapped Persons Association on Friday at Govt. Degree College Boys Anantnag Ground. 
On the inaugural ceremony of the match, DYSSO Anantnag, Principal GDC Anantnag and District Social Welfare officer were present, who interacted with players of both the teams and appreciated them for their participation in the match. On this occasion the dignitaries threw threadbare light on the ill effects of drug abuse which has engulfed the society especially the youth. They laid emphasizes to take this awareness campaign in every house hold, so that the youth of the nation can be drug free. They also said that these specially abled persons will be the brand ambassadors in spreading the message to eradicate the drug menace from the society. 
In the match, Anantnag XI locked horns with Bijbehara XI, in which Anantnag XI emerged as winner and Bijbehara XI emerged as runner up. Gh. Mohi Uddin was declared as man of the match for his 17 runs off 7 balls and 2 wickets. Bilal Ahamd remains highest scorer in the match with 23 runs.
On the post-match presentation ceremony, Activity Incharge DYSSO Anantnag Mohammad Abbas Dar, Physical Director GDC Anantnag Umer Bashir and Kamal Jeet of Social Welfare Department Anantnag were present, who distributed Trophies and Medals among the players and teams.
On Saturday, the Cricket match for Wheel Chair Person will be held on the same venue at 11.am. In the next week, there will be competition in the sports discipline of Tennis Ball cricket for sports person with Arthropadic disabilities, which will also be jointly organised by the DYSS0 Anantnag and District Social Welfare Office Anantnag with the assistance of GDC Anantnag.
