Srinagar, Mar 14: The Senior Trade Union Leader and President Employees Joint Action Committee Jammu and Kashmir Mr Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam has welcomed the constitution of the committee under the Chief Secretary Mr Atul Duloo for the Regularisation of the Daily Wagers. He hailed the decision of the chief minister Omar Abdullah to this end and said that the issue needs immediate disposal and also cautioned that the exercise should not be for the sake of exercise. Fayaz Shabnam said that the Government should implement the Minimum Wages Act in favour of the Daily Wagers of all types as is implemented in the other states of the country especially Ladakh.
The EJAC president said that the different governments from time to time have been talking about the issue but nothing concrete has been done so far.
The daily wagers have been suffering and their families are starving, therefore we appeal to the government, especially the Chief minister Omar Abdullah to implement the Minimum Wages Act as a relief to the Daily Wagers till their regularisation.
They can heave a sigh of relief in these hard days when the prices are skyrocketing and these employees will work with more diligence and improve the work culture.
