JAMMU, Dec 04: In a decisive move, the Government of India (GoI) has directed the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to expedite the completion of all ongoing Smart City projects in the cities of Jammu and Srinagar by June 2024.
Authorities in the J&K UT have been instructed by the central government to provide daily updates on the status of the Smart City projects.
Responding to these directives, many projects in both Jammu and Srinagar are now operating on a 24/7 schedule, demonstrating a significant acceleration in project timelines.
Ashish Anand, the General Manager of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), revealed that out of the 125 projects under JSCL in Jammu, 100 have already been successfully completed. The total estimated cost for these projects is Rs 2055.51 crore, with Rs 1204.22 crore already utilised for the completion of the initial 100 Smart City projects in Jammu.
“Out of the 125 projects under Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), 100 have been completed in Jammu,” General Manager, JSCL, Ashish Anand informed Rising Kashmir.
The remaining 25 Smart City Projects in Jammu are currently underway on a mission mode, with an estimated cost of Rs 851.29 crores. The collaborative funding model involves a 50 per cent contribution from both the central government and the state government (J&K UT) for the Smart City projects.
With the diligent efforts in progress, the completion of all Smart City projects in both cities is anticipated on or before June 2024.
