SRINAGAR, AUG24: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert following continuous heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir, which has triggered waterlogging in several residential areas and caused rivers and nallahs to flow above the danger mark.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for seamless coordination among departments, and instructed that control rooms remain fully operational and responsive to the evolving situation.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, it is in constant touch with line departments to closely monitor developments and ensure timely intervention where required.
Special focus, he said, is being given to dewatering waterlogged areas, restoring drainage systems, and ensuring the resumption of essential services such as drinking water and electricity in the worst-affected localities.
The Chief Minister also issued an appeal to the public, urging citizens to exercise caution and fully cooperate with the administration as necessary relief and safety measures are implemented.
