Ganderbal, Dec 03: To curb overpricing, hoarding, and black marketing, the Civil Administration and District Police Ganderbal carried out a comprehensive market inspection at the Main Market Kangan. The joint effort aimed to ensure that essential commodities were sold at government-approved rates, met quality standards, and were readily available to the public.
The inspection team included officials from the District Police Ganderbal, Revenue Department, Food and Supplies, Geology Department, and other concerned agencies. The teams reviewed rate lists, checked the expiry dates on packaged goods, verified manufacturing and packaging details, and assessed the overall hygiene standards of shops.
During the drive, 14 hoteliers and grocery shopkeepers were found violating norms and were fined a total of Rs. 7,800 on the spot.
Residents of the area welcomed the initiative, praising the authorities for their proactive measures to ensure fair trade practices. They also urged the administration to conduct such checks regularly to maintain transparency and protect consumer rights.
