Srinagar, July 14: The Economic Offences Wing, formerly known as Crime Branch Kashmir, has presented a charge-report to the Court of Passenger Tax Srinagar against 19 individuals involved in a case registered under FIR No. 48 of 2015. The accused face charges of committing offenses punishable under sections 420, 468, 120-B, and 201 RPC (Ranbir Penal Code).
The case was initiated following a complaint received by the Crime Branch Kashmir, which alleged the appointment of certain individuals in J&K Police, District Srinagar, based on fake and forged appointment orders. The subsequent investigation revealed substantial evidence of violations of rules and established norms, as well as record manipulation.
The accused individuals’ actions, including issuing appointment orders in contravention of regulations, have led to charges of cheating, fraud, and forgery, among other offenses (punishable under sections 420, 468, 120-B, and 201 RPC). The investigation, which began in 2015, concluded with the establishment of the accused’s involvement in these fraudulent activities.
Consequently, the case against the 19 accused persons has been closed as “proved,” and the charge-report has been submitted to the Honorable Court for judicial determination.
The submission of the charge-report by the Economic Offences Wing marks a significant step in bringing accountability to those involved in the fake appointments within J&K Police. The case demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement agencies in uncovering such fraudulent activities and maintaining the integrity of public institutions.
The court will now proceed with the judicial process to assess the evidence presented in the charge-report and determine the guilt or innocence of the accused individuals. The outcome of this case will serve as a crucial precedent in combating similar instances of fraud and forgery in the future.
The Economic Offences Wing remains committed to upholding the law and ensuring justice for the victims affected by these fraudulent appointments.
