Srinagar, July 14: Political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir have strongly condemned the attack on three non-local labourers who were shot at and injured by terrorists in south Kashmir’s Shopian on Thursday evening. The injured trio, identified as Anmol Kumar, Pintu Kumar, and Heeralal Yadav—all residents of Supaul in Bihar—were working as construction workers in Shopian.
Ghulam Nabi Azad
Chairman Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) in a statement issued here said, “The enemies of peace are trying everything to hurt the peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir with their nefarious designs by carrying out such attacks on the migrant workers. I pray for the early recovery of the injured.”
Expressing sympathy with the families of migrant workers who work in Jammu and Kashmir, Azad urged people to ensure their safety since the labourers belong to poor strata of society who toil hard to earn a living for their families back home. “These poor migrant labourers are the backbone of Jammu Kashmir economy as daily wagers who toil in every sphere of life in order to sustain their livelihood and targeting them is against humanity and principles of all religions,” he said.
The DPAP chairman asked the administration to ensure the safety of all migrant workers in Kashmir and provide all help to the injured at SMHS hospital.
Tarun Chugh and Ashok Kaul
BJP’s National General Secretary Incharge Jammu and Kashmir, Tarun Chugh, along with several other BJP leaders who attended a function here, vehemently condemned the “despicable act of violence” perpetrated by terrorists. He expressed deep concern over the safety and well-being of the victims and extended heartfelt sympathies to their families.
BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, who was also present on the occasion, urged the authorities to expedite the process of bringing the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice. Koul prayed for the swift recovery of the victims and affirmed the party’s unwavering support to those affected by such acts of terror. He emphasized the need for solidarity and unity during these challenging times and called upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir to stand together against the forces of violence and disruption.
Altaf Bukhari
Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari in a statement strongly condemned the attack on innocent labourers, saying, “One feels pained to see innocent people, who had come here just to earn bread and butter for their families back home, being ruthlessly attacked and injured. Heads must roll for such inhuman acts. I am deeply saddened, and I wonder what the attackers want to achieve by targeting innocent migrant workers.”
Expressing his sympathies with the families of the victims, Bukhari urged the authorities to provide the best possible treatment to the injured. “I extend my sympathies to the families of the victims, and I urge the authorities to ensure that the injured receive the best possible treatment. My thoughts and prayers are with the injured, and I pray for their swift and complete recovery,” he added.
Kavinder Gupta
Former Jammu & Kashmir deputy chief minister and BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta said the attack by militants on the three non-locals in the Shopian district was orchestrated to unleash terror in the Valley.
He said the attack was a desperate attempt by terrorists to revive militancy in the Union Territory. “I have been informed that it was a targeted terror attack on non-locals in Shopian. Three people were shot at but survived. They sustained gunshot wounds in their legs and arms. It was an attempt to unleash terror at a time when the Amarnath Yatra has already drawn 1.5 lakh pilgrims,” the former deputy CM said.
He added that the attack was worrying even as it was a purely an act of frustration by the terrorists.”The incident is worrisome. The militants keep orchestrating such attack but our security forces are doing a good job in thwarting them,” said Gupta.
The BJP leader further wished a speedy recovery to the three injured victims in the attack. “I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” added Gupta.
