Budgam, Nov 13: Police said on Sunday said they arrested the father of the accused juvenile for allowing his minor son to drive the vehicle which led to the death of a 15-year-old girl in this central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The hit-and-run incident took place on Saturday in the Harkarmulla area of Budgam which the police solved within three hours.
Ali Mohammad Hajam has been booked under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle (MV) Act for allowing his minor son to drive the vehicle – an auto load carrier, Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam Tahir Saleem told Rising Kashmir. Nazir Ahmad Hajam, according to police, was driving the vehicle at a high speed and he fled from the sport after hitting the girl.
“Within three hours, the vehicle involved in the commission of the crime was seized and the driver was arrested,” Tahir Saleem said, adding, “It surfaced that the arrested driver is a juvenile and not in possession of a valid driving license, and subsequently, his father has been arrested.”
The SSP also requested the parents to not allow minors and those possessing valid driving licenses to drive vehicles, saying this endangers the lives of the people.
