Bandipora, April 06: In a compassionate initiative, Bandipora Youth Volunteers have extended a helping hand to patients and attendants at the District Hospital Bandipora by distributing more than 4000 Iftar kits.
The noble endeavour commenced on the 8th of Ramdhan, with over a dozen dedicated youth volunteers coming together to serve Iftari at DH Bandipora.
Elahi Mohsin, overseeing the arrangements told Rising Kashmir that the team prepares 200 kits daily with the assistance of around a dozen volunteers.
He said that the inspiration behind this thoughtful initiative stemmed from a volunteer’s observation of the lack of arrangements for Iftari at the hospital during one evening.
“One evening during Iftar time, I witnessed patients and their families struggling to find a place to break their fast. There were no arrangements, and people were hurrying around. It struck me deeply. No one should go hungry during this sacred month. That’s when we decided to step up and make a difference” he added.
Witnessing people scrambling to break their fast on time touched his heart, prompting him to spearhead this noble cause, he added.
Mohsin said that during the whole initiative, no cash contributions were accepted while those willing to donate were requested to contribute items suitable for breaking fast.
He further said that the volunteers generously funded the meals served on the eve of Shab e Qadr from their own pockets.
Meanwhile attendants, who have been receiving the Iftar kits, shared their heartfelt gratitude to the Youth Volunteers who started the initiative of serving Food kits at DH Bandipora.
One of the attendants, who wished not to be named, told Rising Kashmir that these kits are a lifeline for them as they are away from home, and Elahi Mohsin and his team have made their lives easier during Ramadhan.
“When you’re worried about your loved one’s health, having a meal ready for iftar brings immense relief. These volunteers are like angels”, said another attendant.
Mohsin said that the heart-warming initiative is slated to continue until the final day of Ramadhan to ensure that the spirit of compassion and generosity prevails throughout the holy month.
Mudasir Ahmad, who has been managing the contributions made by the people, expressed his gratitude towards the residents of Bandipora for their generous donations.
He noted that the unwavering support of People of Bandipora ensured that there was no shortage of any essential item required for preparing the Iftar kits. The overwhelming response from the people of Bandipora reflects their spirit of solidarity and compassion towards those in need during the holy month of Ramadhan, he said.
In a heartfelt message of appreciation, Mudasir extended his sincere thanks to the people of Bandipora for their invaluable contributions towards the noble cause.
He emphasized that while their individual efforts may seem small, collectively, they have played a pivotal role in the success of the initiative.
Mudasir acknowledged that the seamless execution of the Iftar distribution program was made possible by the collective generosity and selflessness of the Bandipora residents, highlighting their essential role in making a positive impact on the lives of others.
