Bhaderwah, July 13: The three-day Blind Cricket Tournament came to a successful close today at the Sports Stadium of Government Degree College Bhaderwah, leaving a lasting impression of courage, inclusivity, and sporting excellence.A statement issued here said that held from July 11 to July 13, the tournament featured visually impaired cricketers from various regions, brought together to celebrate ability over disability. The event was organised by the Cricket Blind Association J&K in collaboration with the District Administration Doda, Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA), and the Social Welfare Department.The tournament was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah, Sunil Kumar Bhutyal, who reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to empowering differently-abled athletes. The opening match featured a thrilling contest between the Blue and Red teams, with the Blue team emerging victorious. Throughout the tournament, players impressed onlookers with their coordination, technical skill, and determination, proving that true passion for the game transcends physical barriers. In his message, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, praised the organisers and participants alike. “This tournament is a powerful reminder that disability does not equate to inability. These players are a beacon of inspiration to us all,” he said.The closing ceremony included the presentation of trophies and certificates, met with enthusiastic applause from officials, volunteers, and spectators. Organisers pledged to make the tournament an annual affair, committed to promoting inclusivity, sportsmanship and unity through sport.
