Jammu, July 11: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) working president Raman Bhalla on Tuesday said accused the BJP government of failing to address the problems of the people of J&K.
“The miseries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have increased manifold after they (BJP) cheated (them),” Bhalla said while chairing a meeting over ‘Maun Satyagrah’ to be held on Wednesday. The meeting was presided over by Bhalla and former minister Mulla Ram.
On the occasion, Bhalla said, “All the promises made (by BJP) to the people prior to the Parliament elections remained unfulfilled. Considerable time has passed but they have failed to fulfill any of the promises, be it the problems faced by the border residents, problems faced by the farmers, refugees and Kashmiri Pandits, this Government has done nothing to address those problems.”
On ‘Maun Satyagrah’, he said, “We believe that the truth and our commitment to the genuine welfare of every Indian, speaks loud and clear, no matter what tactics the BJP will deploy against us or our leaders. India will not allow such fascist forces to go on for too long. Undeterred, Rahul Gandhi has remained steadfast in his resolve to take on the ruling regime, he said. Even outside Parliament, he remains the voice of the people and the leader who people can trust, he said.”As a result, not just the Congress, but the entire country is agitated at his wrongful and vindictive disqualification.”
“We appeal to 140 crore Indians, regardless of affiliation, to stand with the forces of justice and liberty, to stand up against this muting of democracy,” the JKPCC leader said. He exhorted the party cadre to remain in touch with people, keeping their actions deeply rooted in the ideology of the party.
“Never step back, face the challenges with courage and faith. Our distressed people want us to strengthen our rows to come to their rescue. The ruling party and its local ‘Trojan horses’ are not batting an eyelid over the miseries they have created for our people,” he said, adding, “We do not find any mention about the fuel price hike, farmers’ distress, development deficit and unemployment in their talks. It shows they are not worried about the people but only want to be in power. We have to amplify our efforts towards highlighting the public issues because no one is doing it. Our cadre has to work extra time and walk an extra mile to shoulder people’s woes. Our ground cadre is doing a good job, however, the prevailing situation demands us to do more.”
