Poonch, Sep 04: Javed Ahmed Rana, President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Pir Panjal Zone and former legislator, on Monday strongly criticised the present dispensation for its “failure” to provide essential services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
While engaging with a delegation from Dharana Malakpur in Mendhar, the senior NC leader expressed his disappointment with the government’s inability to meet the expectations of the general public. The delegation members, according to Rana, brought to his attention the deplorable condition of roads in the Pir Panjal region, particularly in Mendhar.
Rana noted that the suffering of the people has increased significantly in the absence of a popularly elected government in Jammu and Kashmir. He took serious note of the dismal condition of roads, including the Dharana Malakpur Dolak road and Kasab Behra road, and despite raising the matter with authorities concerned several times no one seems to be taking the pressing issues concerning the general public seriously.
He said the Mendhar Surankote road, Madan Kalai road and Kalaban Pathana Pir Gursai Road, falling under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), are also in a state of disrepair. According to norms, contractors responsible for PMGSY roads are mandated to maintain them for a period of five years, but regrettably, the people continue to suffer, he added.
The NC leader said that authorities sitting at the helm of affairs are turning a deaf ear to the issues faced by the people. He noted that developmental activities have come to a standstill in the entire Pir Panjal zone, and residents are struggling for basic amenities including regular water and power supplies.
“If the government does not address these critical issues promptly, the public may have no choice but to take to the streets in protest,” he warned.
