Jammu, July 03: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference strongly criticised the ‘Maha Jan Samparak Abhiyan’ launched by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of its nine years of achievements in J&K, labeling it as “nothing more than a farce and a mockery” of the BJP-led government.
In a statement issued here, Rattan Lal Gupta, provincial president of JKNC Jammu, said, “The BJP leaders have been going door-to-door in an attempt to connect with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. However, instead of receiving a warm welcome, they are being confronted by the genuine concerns and questions of the residents.”
Gupta asserted that the people are rightfully questioning the BJP leaders regarding the power crisis which was unaddressed despite the BJP being in power for the last nine years at the Centre, and the lack of regular water supply, despite funds allocated for the Jal Jeevan Mission with an aim to provide tap water to every household.
“The vacant government posts, shortage of specialized doctors, failure to raise Border Battalions, lack of regularization policy for daily wage workers, and absence of action against those involved in recruitment scams are other concerns raised by the people during the so-called Jan Samparak Abhiyan,” he added.
The senior NC leader strongly criticised the Saffron party for its “continuous betrayal” of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, saying, “The government at the Centre has demonstrated a disregard and disrespect for the sentiments and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir despite getting huge mandate during 2014 assembly and 2019 Parliamentary elections. The erosion of trust between the people of J&K and the ruling party has created an atmosphere of frustration and apprehension.” He demanded immediate restoration of democracy in the Union Territory.
Gupta added, “BJP’s actions have undermined the principles of democratic governance. The people of J&K deserve to have their voices heard, their concerns addressed, and their rights protected in line with the Constitution.” He reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and asserted that “only the NC can fulfill the aspirations of the region”.
