BIS holds sensitization programme for District Level Officers

Kargil, July 24: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office, organized a sensitization program for the District Level Officers at Conference Hall Baroo, Kargil. The program aimed to enhance the understanding of standard formulation, the use of Indian Standards, and to encourage the procurement of ISI-marked products by government offices.
The session was attended by the Chief Planning Officer and all other district level officers of Kargil district.s
During sensitization program Niraj Kumar Mishra, Deputy Director of BIS-JKBO, provided an overview of BIS activities, highlighting its role in promoting quality, safety, and reliability of products and services through various Conformity Assessment Schemes. He explained that BIS certification offers a third-party guarantee of product quality, safety, and reliability to consumers.
Niraj also delivered a detailed presentation on department-specific standards, standards formulation, product certification, hallmarking, and the Compulsory Registration Scheme. He demonstrated the “Know Your Standards” portal, allowing easy access and free download of standards, and showcased the manakonline portal and BIS Care App for verifying ISI-marked products and hallmarked jewelry, as well as for registering complaints.
Rajkumar, Assistant Director of BIS-JKBO, highlighted various BIS initiatives aimed at ensuring quality products for customers. He stressed the importance of the program in making department heads aware of quality checks for standard products and the laws controlling substandard products in the market. He also educated the attendees about the ISI mark and hallmark.
The officers of Kargil district suggested that similar awareness programs should be conducted at the department level and urged officers to spread awareness among the public during outreach programs
Director Agriculture Kashmir promotes Integrated Farming System during Harwan visit

Srinagar, July 24: The Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal on Wednesday visited Harwan area of district Srinagar. He visited the farms of different progressive farmers and interacted with the farming community members of the area.
While talking to the farmers Director Agriculture highlighted the importance of intergrated farming system and said that the integrated farming concept being adopted by the farmers have started bearing fruits of success.
Director Agriculture said that department is working on a strategy where in the farmers are educated to adopt integrated approach for their farms so that they could get maximum output in terms of business and profit.
Director Agriculture assured the farmers of every possible technical support from the department whenever and wherever they need it.
Chowdhary Iqbal said we are working for the transformation of farming sector and transformation does not mean increasing productivity only, but socio-economic transformation and empowerment. We are endeavouring to convert our farmer into an agri-preneur, he added.
Earlier Director Agriculture visited farms of some progressive farmers of Harwan. He also inspected PP Store harwan and held interaction with the concerned staff.
Director Agriculture Kashmir was accompanied by senior officers of the Department.
