Birla Open Minds International School Jammu celebrates ‘SPARDHA: The Annual Sports Meet

Jammu, Feb 06:Birla Open Minds International School Jammu celebrated ‘SPARDHA: The Annual Sports Meet’ 2022-2023 with great enthusiasm on Saturday. The sprawling school playground wore a festive look with colorful flags and school children looking equally colorful, bubbling with energy to encompass everyone in their celebration of sports and sportsmanship.
 
Amongst the dignitaries present were Smt. Kamal Sisodia 2nd in command 76 BN CRPF and Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Shah Bhukhari Ex MLA-Surankote, Ex- MOS- Social Welfare, Ex VC- Pahari Advisory Board as the Guest of Honor.
Retd. Brig. Gurmeet Singh Shan was the Chief guest on the occasion.
The guests were greeted with bouquets of flowers as bright and cheerful as the faces of the children presenting them. School Head Girl Insha Malik presented the Welcome Address, marking the beginning of the event. This was followed by lighting of the Sports Flame by the Chief Guest. The sports Torch was carried by the School Sports Captain Aditya Sharma, who thereafter administered the Oath to the participants. School Principal, Mrs. Aparana Kohli in her speech welcomed the guests, parents and all the spectators wherein she narrated the importance of the sports and proudly spoke about the various achievements of the school. She also said that the performance of our school has been excellent in both studies and sports.
 
The series of events started with Saraswati and Ganesh Vandhana followed by School March Past. The day witnessed a series of competitive events following innovative themes right from play groups to grade 12.
 
 The meet was declared open by the honorable Chief Guest Retd. Brig. Gurmeet Singh Shan. The events of the day included track events like 50mtrs(Flower Race), 80mtrs(Collect the Cones), 80mtrs(Pack my school bag), 160mtrs(Materchef), 100mtrs(Drag the ball race), 150mtrs(Balancing race), 100mtrs(Toss the ball), 200mtrs(Soldier race), 100mtrs(Balloon between the legs), 200mtrs(Skipping rope race), 300mtrs(Lock-Key race), 400mtrs(Fill the sack race), 400mtrs(Relay race), 100mtrs(Saree/Sack race), 100mtrs(One legged race), 200mtrs(Open box race)etc. The students captivated everyone’s attention by their enthusiasm and participation in various races. The exciting athletic events were punctuated by colorful and energetic dance performances.
 
The excitement and enthusiasm were clearly visible in everyone’s eyes. Students prepared various drills and races for the event. The zealous parents gathered in large numbers and constantly applauded the participants on the field track displays. It was the day for the students to free themselves from the fetters of mundane classes to play and fun.
 
 The splendid show was followed by felicitation of the winners of the track events. Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and Principal of the school gave away the medals and certificates to the winners. In his address, the Chief Guest complimented the students and the staff for organizing a stupendous show, full of energy and enthusiasm. He said that he was impressed and overwhelmed to see Bomis Athletes and the vibrant displays put up by the students. He also appreciated and emphasized the importance of sports and said that it was a pleasure to see how students of Bomis Jammu had eluded the addiction of social media and were breaking away from the constraints of the four walls of the household and were actively nurturing their skills according to their potentials to build a harmonious spirit. He praised Bomis Jammu for providing excellent guidance and infrastructure to the students.
 
 The Principal Mrs. Aparana Kohli extended the Vote of Thanks to the guests for gracing the occasion and encouraging the students with her kind words. She also appreciated the efforts of the staff and teachers for putting up such a nice and well-coordinated event. What a lovely, enjoyable, and energetic winter day it was! All parents captured the moments in their cameras and minds to cherish for a lifetime.
