Bandipora, Feb 27: A snow avalanche struck Khandyal village in Gurez Valley of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday afternoon, damaging two houses. However, no injuries or casualties have been reported so far, officials said.

An official told Rising Kashmir that District administration Bandipora have dispatched revenue teams to assess the damage and have urged residents to stay alert as snowfall continues in the valley.

Gurez Valley has received 4 to 5 feet of fresh snow, while the Tulail valley recorded six inches of snowfall.

“We are monitoring the situation closely to ensure the safety of residents”, the official added.
