Police in Ganderbal solved an ATM fraud case by arresting an accused involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen cash from his possession.
A police spokesman said, “On 16/11/2022, Police Station Ganderbal received a written complaint from a tourist, a resident of Banglore namely Nasreen-ul-Nissa wife of Khaleel Beigh stating there in that she had misplaced her ATM Card and an unknown person has illegally withdrawn Rs-70,000 from her account by using her lost ATM Card.”
“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 318/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation was initiated.”
“A special team headed by SHO PS Ganderbal under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ganderbal Shri Gh Hassan-JKPS was constituted. During the course of investigation, suspect was zeroed in with the help of technical support (CCTV footage) and subsequently was arrested. He has been identified as Danish Rashid Bhat son of Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Darhuma Tangmarg”, he said.
The spokesman said that during questioning, it was revealed that the accused had procured the said ATM card at Petrol Pump Ganderbal and used it illegally to withdraw cash from various ATM outlets.
“Illegally withdrawn cash amounting Rs-70000/- has been recovered from his possession”, he said.
