Srinagar, Dec 09: An Army Havaldar soldier was killed in an accidental mine blast in Mandi area while patrolling along Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector.
Slain soldier was identified as (Havildar) Subaish (39) was critically injured. Following the blast, he was quickly airlifted to the command hospital in Udhampur. However he succumbed to his injuries.
Army spokesman said that GOC White knight Corps and all ranks pay solemn tribute to the braveheart Havaldar V Subbaiah Varikunta of 25 RR. He made the supreme sacrifice during an area domination patrol in the general area of ThanedarTekri, Poonch, on 09 Dec 2024, following a mine blast.
“Our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We stand steadfastly with them in this hour of grief,” he said.
Earlier on January 24 this year, a soldier was killed and another injured due to a landmine explosion near the LoC in Nowshera of Rajouri district.
