Srinagar, Jun 01: Apni Party’s prominent leaders met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan here on Sunday to discuss the prevailing political and security situation, along with certain pressing public issues.
The leaders who called on the LG included the party’s Parliamentary Affairs Committee Chairman Mohammad Dilawar Mir, General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir, Additional General Secretary Hilal Ahmad Shah, Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Chief Coordinator Abdul Majeed Paddar, Chief Spokesperson and State Secretary Muntazir Mohiuddin, the party said in a statement issued here.
During the meeting with the Lieutenant Governor, Apni Party leaders, headed by Mohammad Dilawar Mir, discussed the prevailing political and security situation, with particular reference to the Pahalgam terror attack and its aftermath. They apprised the LG of several pressing public issues and grievances.
On this occasion, the leaders reiterated their demand for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The leaders urged the LG that confidence-building measures need to be taken to restore the confidence of the people, in view of the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent escalation between the Indian and Pakistani armed forces.
Apni Party leaders suggested that local stakeholders in the tourism sector should be taken into confidence while taking measures for the restoration of tourism activities. They demanded a moratorium on loan EMIs for tourism and allied sectors, so that small entrepreneurs are supported.
They demanded adequate compensation for the border residents who suffered human and property losses due to the recent cross-border shelling.
“The LG gave a patient hearing to the Apni Party leaders and assured them that the issues they raised would be addressed,” the statement said, adding that the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere.
