Shezan Qadir, a 23-year-old from the hamlet of Khiram in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, has brought pride to India with his exceptional performance in International Tennis Cricket. He recently won a gold medal in a bilateral series held in Bhutan, where he took 10 wickets to help Team India emerge victorious.
Shezan’s remarkable skills in Jammu and Kashmir tennis ball tournaments caught the attention of coaches, who selected him for the international series. The Asian Tennis Ball Cricket Federation organized the Indo-Bhutan International Tennis Ball Cricket Bilateral Series 2023 at Bhutan Gate Phuntsholing, where teams from India, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka competed.
“I am pursuing my M.Sc. degree while also having a strong interest in cricket. My parents are very supportive, and I am grateful to them,” said Shezan. He urged the youth of Kashmir to participate in athletic activities and emphasized the need for appropriate sports infrastructure to help aspiring athletes demonstrate their abilities.
Shezan also appealed to authorities to support him and others in their sporting ambitions. “Sports are essential in today’s virtual world, where youth are glued to their phones,” he added.
Shezan Qadir’s achievement is a testament to the immense talent and potential of Kashmir’s youth. His victory in the international tournament is a matter of pride for the entire country.
