From being an outstanding teacher to winning immense recognition in the field of teaching, Humaira Syed, a teacher from North kashmir’s Baramulla district has set an example for many others to follow.
Hailing from Dangiwacha area of Baramulla district Humaira’s remarkable journey in the field of education is marked by her significant role in inspiring young minds. Recognising her dedication and devotion she has been felicitated with 54 awards so far.
While sharing her journey with Rising Kashmir Humaira said “After completing my graduation I did my post graduation in Botany from University of Kashmir. After that I started working as a contractual lecturer at Wagoora Higher Secondary in 2006 and in 2009 I was regularized in the education department.”
“”During COVID times when the entire world shifted to online mode, I also started uploading video lectures for my students so that they can enhance their preparations for exams. At that time I was posted at Higher Secondary School Dangiwacha and the Principal of the school supported me a lot”, she said.
Adding “I also started counseling my students during COVID 19 phase when depression and anxiety were everywhere, so that my students did not face any difficulty”. she said
After viewing her performance, the administration of Jammu and Kashmir felicitated Humaira Syed with the state’s best teacher award in 2021.
She said that her parents supported her in every aspect of her life. “If I am a good teacher it has only been possible because of my mother’s support,” she said
Humaira’s family had faced various challenges after her father had died when she was only ‘3’ years old. It was her mother who took care of the family.
She said,” My husband Peerzada Murtaza has always supported me in my efforts.” Humaira emphasizes that a teacher’s behavior is vital in transforming the children.
“Our society is forcing decisions upon the children towards professions like engineering and being doctors but if we listen to what they want to be in their life it would be better”.she said. “When I started my teaching career in 2009 I faced a lot of criticism from people but I went ahead with a positive attitude and chased my dreams”. Humaira said.
Recently she was felicitated with the Nari Shakti award by the UT administration for her all-rounder performance. Acknowledging her efforts, the J&K administration has felicitated Humaira Syed with 54 awards till now.
“I feel proud that I have been given the Nari Shakti award by the worthy LG Manoj Sinha, it has been only possible due to the efforts made by my students,” she said. Adding, “I have three daughters but I have always treated my children and my students alike,” Syed said.
Humaira is currently posted at Higher Secondary School Dangiwacha for the past few years where she is not only teaching students but also heading the cultural wing. She has won many national awards in several cultural events also.
“I have a dream to see my students touching new heights in their lives”, she added.
Humaira has a message for the students, she urges all to stay off  wrong habits  and  focus on studies to  make their parents proud.
